    Jupiter, Lord of the Dance

At midnight on the eve of Friday 13th in July 2001, Jupiter, Lord of Fortune, expansive Lord of the Dance, changes sign from Gemini, the sign of his detriment, to Cancer, the sign of his exaltation, signalling a major new focus for everyone's lives.

Jupiter, one of the most potent forces in our solar system, has been in Gemini for the best part of a year, creating all manner of issues connected mainly with finances, cultural pursuits, matters of the mind, communications, the law, politics, travel and interpersonal relationships. His transit into fulsome Cancer marks the beginning of a new twelve-year cycle.

Jupiter rules our potential for growth and expansion on many levels; physical, intellectual, spiritual and cultural, along with the accumulation of material assets, power and status. He rules our optimism and aspirations.

Lordly Jupiter, traditionally described as the greater fortune (or benefic), governs luck and wellbeing. When Jupiter is well-aspected he provides superb opportunities for expansion and success. Poorly aspected, he generates over-confidence and foolhardy actions with little care for the consequences.

Jupiter spends about a year in each sign, taking twelve years to complete his journey through all twelve signs. In this article, we will address the influence of his transit into Cancer as seen from the point of view of each sign in turn.
