He entered this domain of mysterious forces and hidden influences in September 2000 and will remain there until the mid-year of 2003. This marks a time when there is a need for some withdraweal from outwardly oriented activity and examine the patterns of the past. You need to program in some time for reflection on matters and people that link you with the past and past situations. Are these connections holding you back? Is there some kind of resolution or ending that can be made with them? While Jupiter calls for expansive and speedy action, Saturn counsels a measured response to a well-considered matter. You need to work hard to maintain a good balance between matters of the self and your efforts on your own behalf and the needs of partners and close associates. There could be wasted energy and even conflict here, so ensure you have clear agreements about the exchanges required in maintaining your primary relationships. The heritage of the past may weigh against you in these matters, or you may simply have an increase in responsibilities towards loved ones and close associates. Whichever way things go, this will be a year in which it is important to work at relationships, rather than riding high on their natural joys. Mercury Retrograde Mercury moves into retrograde (reverse) motion three times a year for about three weeks each time. This phase heralds a time of confusion and misunderstandings that can affect arrangements, travel, transport, appliances, machinery and communications. The breakdowns that occur are a function of neglect, inattention, simple misunderstandings or component failure. They will often bring to the fore the very contingency we should have planned for and didn't. When the retrograde phase occurs, watch out for such possibilities as well as putting off major decision-making or the signing of crucial documents and agreements. We tend to miss things while Mercury is in reverse motion and then have to come back and do them again. A process of review in the retrograde phase can efficiently show where problems might lie and help us with damage control or the mending of things. Double check arrangements at these times! What you think you've said and what others have understood will often prove to be two different things. The third week of January brings the messenger retrograde in the sign of Aquarius and your solar 8th house of joint finances and resources. You may need to examine your financial situation with regard to investments, credit operations and shared monies. Don't overextend yourself at this point and don't enter into any new joint arrangements until you're sure of your standing and their potential. Be careful during this one. As Mercury the messenger crosses and re-crosses paths with mystic Neptune, things may not be at all what they seem. Hang fire! Detach and see the broader picture. Go back into action in the second week of February. The third week of May brings a second retrograde Mercury, this time in the sign of Gemini and your solar twelfth house. Be honest and straightforward in your dealings and avoid signing contracts or finalizing negotiations. There is confusion in the air and even the most genuine of proposals might not be well understood. Get your deception meter working and make sure you're not being misled, either by yourself or by others. Eclipses can have a special significance for the crustacean since your sign and cycles are lunar in origin. The first one for the year is an eclipse of the Full Moon in Sagittarius. With the Sun in Gemini and your solar 12th house (spiritual matters, hidden enemies, endings & self-undoing) blocking the light of Lady Moon in your solar 6th house, you may find yourself at odds with your health or wrestling with difficulties as regards work methods and co-workers. Make peace with your circumstances and accept them rather than trying to fight your way through. An eclipse of the Sun by the New Moon in Gemini and your solar 12th house comes on June 11th. It may have run its race or there could be the seeds of self-destruction because of weariness or the burdens of responsibility. Weigh up matters carefully before you act. A Full Moon and a lunar eclipse in the sign of Taurus and your solar 11th house on the 20th of November brings a change with regard to your own hopes and wishes and people with whom you have had associations in the past. Make adjustments according to what is possible or necessary. Sudden or unexpected developments could take a strong hand in where things go from here. You may have to go with them. Joint financial arrangements may be a trigger for change. The New Moon in Sagittarius and your solar 6th house brings an eclipse of the Sun on December 4th. Changes in work cycles or methods, especially with regard to connections with people, are on the cards.
