Happy New Year, Aries! The Sun in Capricorn sets the focus on dealings with authority, status and professional direction. You may need to review your situation and discuss matters with those qualified to do so. Ideas and decisions abound from Jan 9th but don't let impatience or haste guide you. You may set out half-cocked, try to get everything done at once or fall victim to a rush of blood when what you really need is insight, advice, support and more time.

There will be practical results or developments with the Full Moon in Cancer on Jan 14th, as matters of domestic and professional life may come into a new perspective. You may make a major choice or decision at this point. Hidden consequences will be influential so study your situation from all angles. You may be pulled between the old and the new. The 'old' will drag you back unexpectedly to an old problem. The 'new' will open a door but it will ask a lot or make a load for you to carry.

The Sun's move to Aquarius on Jan 20th brings friends and support into the picture. A new or unusual companion may offer something. A new dream may grow. Avid discussion will add fuel to the fire that keeps you going. Don't be misled by something or someone that's too good to be true though. You will need to make a break from any extremes or excesses of enthusiasm. Don't over-indulge. Aim for your highest aspiration but be realistic about what can be achieved. Outstanding financial matters or disputes may be resolved in your favour as the month comes to an end.

Venus the goddess is in reverse, moving back to Capricorn on New Year's Day. You may return to old stamping grounds with negotiations or professional dealings. Past contacts from work may come back into your life. You may review finances or social interactions because of professional changes. Dealings with authority may involve older people, especially females. You may encounter resistance to what you see as the way forward. You may have to repair an old matter in professional life or dealings with authority.

The Way Ahead

Mars still dominates the landscape as the warrior finally sets himself to finish his long stay in Taurus and your house of money. You can start to put in with regard to your financial situation. Work hard and you'll make headway. Keep matters in perspective in the second and third weeks. Don't be overly hopeful or try to do too much with too little in this period. Be careful of the 'get rich quick' solution. Your judgement may be unsound, or prone to flights of fancy and impulsive action.
